Saalim Farnum

With 12 years in the public service, I rely on the skills I gained at NIDCO, which made my transition into the Ministry smooth and prepared me for my role as Driver I. My work goes beyond driving—I do daily vehicle checks, stay punctual, manage busy schedules, and prioritise safety. I’ve learned that every day brings something different, and being adaptable makes all the difference. I also value the trust placed in me, especially when it comes to confidentiality and professionalism. I believe the job requires strong driving skills, a positive attitude, and respect for others.

I joined the Caroni Water Treatment Plant in 2007 after earning my degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UWI. Over the last 18 years in the Public Service, I’ve grown from trainee to Senior Engineer, now leading maintenance operations and managing a dedicated team. The job is 24/7 and demands collaboration, but it’s rewarding to l know our work directly impacts communities. Inspired by my father’s career at WASA, I take pride in continuing that legacy.
